Petra Caravan Camp
About this chalet
The camp sits on the edge of Wadi Rum’s red desert, arranged as a row of striped Bedouin-style units, each raised on a small wooden porch with steps and railings. A paved walkway links the cabins to outdoor seating areas where long picnic tables and benches sit among small planted shrubs and young trees that break the sandy landscape. Inside the tents, traditional red patterned textiles cover the walls; there is a metal-framed bed, blankets and patterned floor rugs, with small windows admitting morning light. An open-air dining/lounge area is decorated with hanging lanterns and Bedouin ornaments, offering seating that faces sweeping desert views — a fine spot for sunrises and sunsets framed by distant rock formations. The surrounding sandplain is visible from the camp and shows saddled camels resting nearby, with broad vistas of cliffs and sandstone towers on the horizon. Overall the place feels simple and focused on the desert experience, with organized outdoor spaces and clear sightlines across the Wadi Rum landscape.
